Roycroft inspired Gustav Stickley (originally by Geoffrey Chaucer) Original Watercolor
This is an original watercolor painting by British artist Russ Billington. The motto, "The Lyf so short, the Craft so long to Lerne", adorns this beautifully adorned bird motif design reminescent of the famous Roycroft mottos designed by Dard Hunter. The motto comes from the 14th century poem by Geoffrey Chaucer, 'A Parliament of Fowles' and was a favorite of Gustav Stickley. Painting is on 100% cotton Arches paper measuring 12 X 16 inches and the painted area is 8 X 12 inches. Painting comes framed and matted in an Oak Park quarter sawn white oak frame made by our friends at Dard Hunter Studios. Please inquire for unframed painting or custom colors and allow 2 to 3 weeks for delivery. Accurate delivery estimate given at time of purchase.
